A highly awarded hospital system in central Massachusetts has an opening for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. Opening for a well-trained adult cardiac surgeon with excellent technical skills, devotion to perioperative care, and an interest in a strong team-oriented approach to patient management

About the Opportunity

• Experience in minimally invasive and robotic surgery would be useful in trying to expand the surgical program
• The surgical team consists of a senior Cardiac Surgeon and 6 PAs, nearly all of whom are cross-trained in preoperative care, intraoperative vein harvesting and first assisting, ICU and floor care, and office coverage
• The advanced practice provider pool has seen long-term stability due to the friendly, patient-oriented atmosphere present at the hospital and a strong team-bonding
• The team also includes a full complement of perfusionists and cardiac anesthesiologists
• Cardiac surgery patients are covered exclusively in the ICU by the surgeon and mid-level providers
• A full range of adult cardiac procedures is performed with the exception of destination VADs and transplants
• The team enjoys an excellent rapport with several major tertiary centers in Boston for extremely high-risk cases
• The Hospital has 4 cardiac catheterization laboratories, all recently upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment -2 of them are used as hybrid cath labs in addition to a hybrid operating room built within the past year
• The cardiology team is very strong and includes experienced interventionalists and electrophysiologists
• There are general cardiology and interventional cardiology fellows but there is no surgical resident or fellow involvement in the cardiac surgery program
• The Advanced Structural and Valvular Heart disease program is actively supported by Cardiac Surgery
• The program has averaged about 120 TAVRs and 20 Mitraclip procedures annually, and a surgeon participates in all of these procedures
• 300-bed medical center
